Raka Figurehead 2013

Nose: The berries and black currant of the Cabernet Sauvignon is prominent with hints of spicy eucalyptus. This is supported by a lovely caramel and chocolate flavours of the Merlot and soft pepper and sandlewood flavours of Cabernet Franc. This is rounded of beautifully with the Pinotage offering banana, boiled sweets and a touch of mocha.
Palette: Layers of herbaceous black olives, smoky cedar with a touch of cigar box, pencil shavings and sour cherries. This is supported by good toastiness from sweet oak.

Once fermentation was complete, the wine was drained off the primary lees and transferred to a resting tank. Malolactic fermentation and a brief settling period preceded the wine to a combination of 225 litre barrels of French oak types.
